Banging noise in washing machine. If the washer is making a loud noise the transmission might be worn out or defective. If your counterweight unscrews or breaks due to the vibrations of your washing machine you will hear a loud banging if the machine exceeds 1000 spins per minute during the spin cycle. If the noise turns out to be caused by the transmission it may have to be replaced.
