To prevent clothing from knotting and twisting.
Why do my clothes get twisted in the washing machine. Avoid mixing heavy items with light items. Get an old pair of tights a cloth or something else that is very likely to catch and tear. The issue is likely that youre cramming too much into the machine at once.
Theres nothing more annoying than having to put your clothes back in the washing machine for a second load. If you have to force the door closed the load will tangle. This can be done by putting heavier clothing in with it or washing it by itself.
If these hoses become twisted or bent it can prevent the correct amount of water from reaching your machine. If you own a top load washing machine you may have a problem with tangles. On my washer I was able to pull up on the agitator just a bit then push it back on.
When packed the clothes against the door are held stationary while the basket turns. Keep loads small instead. The difference is often not noticeable.
Thicker premium garments tend to hold up better under the stress of a washing machine. Pulling the sleeves inside the shirt and tying the sleeves in a bow also work. This can be an annoying thing that happens on a regular basis.
Again use a flashlight to carefully inspect every inch. If rust spots appear on your clothes there is probably a chip in the washer basket. Make sure you set the proper water level for the size load you are doing.
