The Problems with Using a Machine.
Can you put wool in the washing machine. Let it sit for 5-10 minutes occasionally using your hands to gently stretch the sweater in length and width. If your items care label doesnt feature the dry clean only symbol or the hand wash only symbol then its okay to use the washing machine to do the job for you. Select the gentle or wool cycle on your washing machine and set the water temperature to cold or lukewarm.

Washing wool can be tricky as it is more delicate than most fabrics. As youve seen above cotton synthetic fiber and polyester rugs can go in the washing machine with little or no problem. Generally speaking you can machine wash sturdy clothes that are all one color and made out of fabrics like cotton or linen as long as you turn them inside out put the washer on a gentle cycle with cool water and hang the clothes up to dry.
If your Woolmark-approved garments care claim says that you can machine wash your piece of wool clothing then it means it can safely be machine washed in a washing machine multiple times without shrinkage taking place. Once its back to the size it should be remove from water. But if your area rug is made of wool silk or other delicate fabric machine washing can cause problems.
However its worth noting that most of our quilts probably any bigger than a single would be too big for a home washing machine but fit easily in. Put the sneakers in a mesh bag if you have one and wash them in a washing machine using the wool. Dont wring it out but instead press water out bit by bit using the side of your sink basin or bathtub.
