Instead handwash it in a bathtub to ensure a gentle cleaning.
Can i machine wash a tent. So can you wash a tent in the washing machine. The tent has little wires and rods to keep them secure and its quite impossible to wash them in the washing machine. I noticed some bird doo doo from last season and dried bugs inside so I just washeddried my tent in my home equipment fly and inner tent separately but carefully loaded in cold water with NO detergent whatsoever and afterward checked for damage.
The reason behind this is that tents fabric is not so strong and a washing machine can tear it apart. If you spin the tent in the washing machine then it will tear and shrink. It depends on the tent and the washing machine.
Youre better off washing it in a tub or water basin. If you absolutely must you can clean it in a large commercial size front packing washing machine on a mild cycle hang dry it and retreat it with weatherproofing as well as UV proofing sprays yet I actually do not suggest it. It is also important to keep the zippers of your tent clean.
If you just throw it in all the more fragile parts such as mesh or seams could be destroyed. You do still need to make sure you wash it as needed. Likewise a washing machine has small space that would crumple the tent and can take a toll on its different layers.
The answer to this is NO. I do store it dry but only occasionally wash. Tents while miraculously tough when pitched in the wilds are no match for a stainless steel cylinder.
You can clean your. Sure you can but its not as simple as throwing it into the washing machine. The agitation and pressure that is generated inside the washing machine can cause serious damage to the nylon.
